My Guilty Pleasure(s)

Yes ladies and gals, purchasing designer handbags is a pleasure I have occasionally (!) indulged in. Collecting handbags has always been an addiction but I feel that now, this addiction has moved up a notch. I’m now seriously coveting designer bags and wallets…perhaps with the growing disposable income that I have as I climb up that corporate ladder?

Not that I have a lot of designer handbag. This Louis Vuitton Hampstead PM featured above is only one of two of my LV bags. But I am considering another purchase. A bag or a quick trip to Aus? Hmm….

I don’t know when exactly my fetish for handbags started. All I know is that whenever I go into a shop, I get drawn to the lovely bags on display. Before I knew it, my collection of bags grew to about 40 that necessitated a purchase of a shelf to store them in. The said shelf is now sitting in all its glory at the centre of our walk-in wardrobe. Such bliss!

Why do I like designer bags you ask? Is it for the status? No, I don’t think so. More than half of the Kiwis I know couldn’t care less about luxury brands. I don’t think they’d even know who or what LV is!

If I am to seriously reflect on why I am drawn to LV and other luxury brands. It’s about knowing that I what I have in my little paws is a symbol of my hard work. I actually find pleasure in stroking and caressing the bag. I enjoy the whole process of going into a posh boutique, selecting my object of desire, paying for it with my hard-earned moolah and going out knowing that it’s mine, all mine.

Does that make sense? Maybe not.

There’s one bag I like at the moment. It’s the Hermes birkin bag but oh so out of my price range.

Sigh

You know, it was also the LV hampstead that i almost bought when i was in paris last year with my mom and sis kaya lang papo stopped me from buying it (maski pa i was going to buy it naman with my own hard-earned money, i listened to hubee). now, i regret i did not get it — i was already in a place where you’ll find the cheapest LVs :-(
