So is New Zealand the only country in the world who hasn’t shown the Twilight movie?
I first heard about the book through Toni. Toni is amazing. She loves Twilight and got about every update on the saga. I, for one, am a late convert. I was at the book store when I saw the book (last month in fact!). The shop was about to close and I was desperate to find a book I can read over a long weekend. Without thinking too much about it, I grabbed the book and made a beeline through to the cashier.
Even though I liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the movie, Interview with the Vampire, I don’t count myself as a vampire enthusiast. But Twilight was different and the book was a good read. I loved the interplay between Bella and Edward and the rest of the supporting characters. But I can’t pinpoint the specifics of why I enjoyed the book. Ala had good points as to what not to like the book but as I said, I can’t pinpoint the specifics about the book that made me buy the rest of the books in the series the next day.
I think the reason I liked the book was because I didn’t take the characters seriously. I’ve allowed myself to get swept away by this forbidden love. Hey, I’ve had my share of heartbreaking, soul-destroying moments but that shouldn’t stop me from enjoying a good read even if I got tired a bit about Bella marvelling over how beautiful Edward is.
I am looking forward to the movie even though I know how it’s going to end. I’ve read mixed reviews about it and I’ve decided to manage my expectations and form an opinion myself.
But seriously, why is New Zealand so late in releasing the movie? Did you know that we’re not even going to see till Boxing Day (26 Dec)? Ack! Ack! Ack!

i’m curious to watch this because my niece has been raving and super kilig with the story. she told me “tita, you should see it! you should!”

You’re right not to take the characters seriously!! That’s where the fun is – to be swept along with them without getting too involved. It’s an entertaining read! Happy you liked Twilight.
