They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Well, I think it’s equally true that one of the best ways to break down an angry wife’s defenses is through her stomach.

Not sure why MrG forgot to add “cooking for your wife a native dish close to her heart” in his tips to men on how to get out of the dog box. But it should be there!

So there we were having just calmed down after a “robust discussion” when MrG surprised me by asking what I wanted for lunch.

I looked at him and thought of one dish I was missing at that very moment. It was Chicken Adobo (it’s a Filipino dish).

To give you a brief background about MrG, well, he’s not a confident cook and the extent of his culinary skills is limited to grilling meat in the BBQ, steak and heating frozen pre-prepared food.

So for him to say he’ll cook Chicken Adobo for me really touched me. I knew then he was really trying hard to make amends and for that, I am grateful. Now, MrG can add the Adobo to his Filipino dish cooking repertoire. Wait till you taste hubby’s pork sinigang. It’s the best!

And guess what? MrG’s chicken adobo isn’t bad either! Yum!
